Building high-performance BI dashboards where data density is the primary challenge. My teammates and I focus on aggregating disparate data sources to provide actionable insights without impacting transactional systems.
Hi, I am
Dennis Mithamo
Software EngineerCurrently, I am engaged as a fullstack engineer on large scale BI systems at Sportserve.
I am also working to deepen my understanding of distributed computation by way of pursuing an MSc. in CS at the University of Nairobi.
My background is in Civil Engineering. In 2018, I pivoted to Software Engineering. I plan to some day work at the intersection of the two domains, designing and implementing systems that employ both the rigour of traditional engineering and the dynamism of modern technology and innovation.
Skills
I am especially skilled in web development using TypeScript and Go. I have plenty of experience building UIs with the Angular and React frontend frameworks.
At work, I am currently working on high-capacity backend services and responsive UIs using Python, Go and TypeScript, leveraging the Angular and React frontend frameworks.
I can leverage modern tooling like Git and GitHub/GitLab, Confluence and Jira, and Slack to maintain a high-velocity and collaborative development workflow.
Experience
Developed core features for a high-traffic logistics platform within a globally distributed team. I also authored the technical onboarding manuals that cut ramp-up time for new engineering hires.
Led a cross-functional team to deliver internal logistics apps and a customer-facing marketplace. Much of my focus went into refactoring and state management, which boosted application performance by 25%.
Owned the UI design and development of a real-time IoT telemetry dashboard. I focused on visualizing complex data streams to help field technicians make operational decisions on the fly.
Developed and shipped features for a financial coaching dashboard. Working closely with global leads, I helped build tools that provided users with financial clarity and actionable data.
Construction Industry (Kenya)
My undergraduate training was in civil and construction engineering. Before trading blueprints for code, I spent three years as a construction supervisor, structural designer, and project manager on several projects in Kenya.
